Brett and I have been trying to break Rachel of her habit of sucking her thumb for more than a year now with little success. I was starting to worry that her thumb sucking was starting to move her front two teeth outward, and so I was willing to offer her what ever she wanted to stop. Instead, something much easier fell into my lap.
A couple of weeks ago I got so sick of Rach throwing a fit about washing/brushing her hair, and so I cut a big chunk off, and planned to go some place to get it evened out. Well, Rachel wanted to get her hair cut at this place called the Cookie Cutter where she gets to pick out a movie and sit in a pink car, and so I said, "if you stop sucking your thumb you can get your hair cut there." I have offered this to her with other things that she just doesn't care about, but this time she excitedly accepted. I didn't think she would do it because she has "tried" stopping before.
I am happy to report, she, like her sister, stopped immediately. It has been two weeks, and so here she is with her prize!
