1st grade has been quite an adjustment for Ashlin. Going to school all day led to several after-school melt downs the first week of school. So to try and help, Ashlin and I started having some "down time" on the couch were she could just sit on my lap and relax while the stress of the day melted away. Several times it was just her crying for no reason other than she was overly tired. On the day this picture was taken, she went to sit and wait for me (I was only gone 5 minutes), and this is how I found her.
I am happy to report Ashlin is now pretty well adjusted to school and the meltdowns have almost completely ended! Although, I do have to admit that I slightly miss our couch snuggle time.
Ashlin also lost her FIRST tooth on Sunday (Nov. 6th) and then her SECOND tooth on Tuesday (Nov. 8th).
She has been waiting and waiting for loose teeth, and jealous of any friends with missing teeth. She would say things like, "I am the ONLY first grader who hasn't lost a tooth yet!" Then Saturday night (Nov. 5th) she was showing Brett, "Look Dad, I have two teeth growing behind my teeth!" Sure enough 2 permanent teeth were popping up behind her baby teeth. So she worked very hard wiggling those teeth and BEGGED and BEGGED to have me pull them. When the first one came out, she was SO excited! She wanted to call anyone and everyone.

I'm loving all these updates! You have been a blogging fool :) Ashlin is so so so pretty Jenae! I still can't believe you have a first grader. You are such a great momma helping her adjust and I can see why you are a little sad that she isn't needing the snuggle time anymore. The older than get the more you treasure the calm moments together.
